October 2021

Welcome

With a global pandemic and supply chain challenges affecting everyday lives and livelihoods across the UK and beyond, evidence-based research must drive policy development more than ever. Rising energy prices, climate change challenges, Brexit, changes to Universal Credit and National Insurance, net-zero and levelling-up agendas, success-recovery and business growth - data accessed through the UK Data Service helps researchers provide new insights to benefit society.

By bringing together major social, economic and population studies in a single place, we provide an opportunity for researchers, policy and charity experts, to answer critical questions about the impacts of real challenges facing the UK now and in the future.

Our new website has been redesigned around your feedback to help you access the data you need; whilst our new Learning hub offers specialised training and guidance on-demand alongside our regular schedule of live training webinars and events.

We advise on the establishment of the first nationwide SafePod Network that widens accredited researcher access to controlled data through the UK Data Service SecureLab (and other safe settings), whilst plans are in place to make our joint Business Data User Conference with ONS an annual event after its success last month.
