Announcing: Light! Concerts

In recognition of 2015 being UNESCO’s International Year of Light, the Waimea Consort is pleased to present free concerts focussed on Light in its many forms. Natural, reflected, metaphorical, and spiritual light are explored in songs about love, fire, sunrise, sunset, and the divine.

Our two concerts will include pieces by Early Music composers Thomas Tallis, Thomas Morley, and Tomás Luis de Victoria. Contemporary works include compositions by Morten Lauridsen, Guy Forbes, and Eric Whitacre.

When & where:
Friday, December 4, 2015, 7pm - University of Hawaiʻi-Hilo, UCB 100 - Hilo
Sunday, December 6, 2015, 4pm - HPA Davies Chapel - Waimea

Our Light! theme is inspired by the United Nations’ global initiative to highlight the importance of light and optical technologies in our daily lives, for the future, and for the development of society. We're celebrating the International Year of Light in the only way we know how - with song!

For those of you in east Hawaiʻi, please note that we'll be performing in Hilo once again - this time at the University of Hawaiʻi-Hilo on the evening of December 4, 2015. The University is located at 200 W. Kawili St., and we will be performing in a large classroom in the University Classroom Building (UCB 100). Please visit our website for more detailed directions.

Mahalo for your continued support and we hope to see you in a few weeks!
