Lismore Young Songwriters Competition now open!

The Lismore Young Songwriters Competition officially opened on 2 February 2017. This annual competition provides the opportunity for our young talent across the Northern Rivers to showcase their creative endeavours, with a performance event being held this year on 6 April 2017 @ The Deck at SCU.

Grief and Loss Training Workshop for Support Staff Working with
People with Disabilities - NEW

March 7 @ 9am - 4pm, Lismore
This interactive workshop will help workers in understanding grief and loss and the grieving process. The issue of professional boundaries and learning the importance of self-care are highlighted.

Dealing with Difficult People, Behaviour and Situations

March 9 @ 9:30am-1:30pm, Goonellabah
This introductory course would suit anyone who may have to respond to difficult behaviour whether face to face or over the phone.

Free Inclusion Booklet: Taking Action on Education

Family Advocacy strongly believes in the importance of an inclusive education for children with disability preparing them on the pathway for an inclusive life and has a booklet to assist families in a practical way with their advocacy efforts.
For families pursuing inclusion at school the booklet Taking Action on Education – All students learning together, aims to assist families when talking to schools and the community on the importance of their child having an inclusive education.

Targeted Early Intervention (TEI) Reforms – Update

Amid growing concern about the lack of funding certainty for organisations funded under the TEI Program, NCOSS is continuing its advocacy to extend current timeframes to ensure the reform does not result in poor outcomes.

NCOSS says…it’s time for the Centrelink debt debacle to stop. Now.

NCOSS’ sister organisation in Victoria, VCOSS, has released a video demonstrating the truly ludicrous nature of the Centrelink debt recovery system.

FACS is undertaking a reform of Targeted Earlier Intervention (TEI) programs and people are invited to participate in preliminary planning sessions being held in a number of locations across Northern NSW.

NSW Community Safety Fund​ 2017​

Applications are now open for up to $250,000 for innovative projects designed to prevent crime and fear of crime and help people feel safe and proud of their community.

ETC announces $120,000 funding for the local community

People interested in making a positive difference to their community are being encouraged to apply for funding from not-for-profit company Enterprise and Training Company Limited (ETC). Applications are open from 13 February – 10 March 2017.

Santos Staff Charity Grant Funding

Santos Organics are inviting local not-for-profits to submit an application for a share of $40,000 in grant funding. Applications close February 28.
