ERIA Holds First Extraordinary Governing Board Meeting

The first Extraordinary ERIA Governing Board Meeting was held in Tokyo on 12 March 2016 to discuss the future work of ERIA. Under the Chairmanship of Dato Paduka Lim Jock Hoi, the discussion examined ERIA's achievements during its first nine years of existence and the region's expectations regarding ERIA's role in promoting a stable and prosperous ASEAN and East Asia going forward. Promoting Innovation

Yasushi Ueki, Economist

Fostering self-motivated people is fundamental in promoting innovation. Recently ASEAN member states (AMS) put more emphasis on engineering and science to promote innovation. Some AMS provide foreign firms with more preferential treatments to investments in innovative activities than in simple product assembly. These countries also request for more international assistance to transfer financial, human, and technological resources for technological vocational college and university education. Read more.

1st Working Group Meeting on Potential Study of Renewable Energy and its Effective Usage in EAS Countries

ERIA held its first working group meeting on the study on Renewable Energy and its Effective Usage in EAS Countries on 9 February 2016 at the ERIA office in Jakarta. The meeting mainly discussed issues related to the next generation of biofuels and bio methanol as energy carrier. Read more.

ERIA Economist Participates in High-Level Policy Dialogue on International Economy

ERIA economist on trade, Dr Lili Yan Ing, spoke at the Indonesia-Australia High Level Policy Dialogue 2016 on 7 March 2016 at the Indonesian Ministry of Finance in Central Jakarta, Indonesia. It was first started and initiated by then Indonesian Finance Minister Sri Mulyani, hoping it could serve as a discussion forum for experts to exchange views on the economic development of Indonesia.
