Ron Crump

Hello Everyone
Our next Breakfast Meeting is AGM time and I must say that this year has absolutely flown. If you would like to nominate for a position on the Management Committee please provide Leonard Whittaker our Secretary with the appropriate details before the meeting.
It has been a really enjoyable year with so much happening and with so many people actively taking part in the organisation and delivery of our events. Thank You.
Likewise I extend on your behalf a very special vote of gratitude to the people who have done such a great job in the running of the Chamber. Because of their excellent efforts we are enjoying  growth in membership and in attendance at those events.
I say thank you to those who have gone before us and who did not have things so easy and who did the hard yards to position the Chamber for where it is today.
We have a great future ahead as our elected representatives become more aware of our aligned goals for our future and as we continue the excellent work of developing Commerce in Schools and assisting the community through our Big Breakfast contributions.
Relationships with the MBRIT, MRC, RDA and other Chambers throughout the region are growing and as such we will have a stronger voice. These people are listening and are doing a sterling job of supporting economic development within the community.
Lastly, just a gentle reminder for you to renew your membership please. May you as individuals and your businesses as entities continue to enjoy good health and growth.  Ron

Thanks to everyone who has offered to present to the chamber in the second half of the year - we have a  fantastic line up of presenters to keep us all educated and entertained at chamber breakfasts for the rest of the year.

We were kindly offered a chamber table by MBRIT. CCIQ and MBRC at the Business Bootcamp Lunch with Andrew Griffiths last week. Andrew gave a wonderful, insightful presentation and really made us think about what it will take to bring our businesses forward into the future. Photos below...  Kellie

April was our last breakfast meeting for the Chamber’s year.  We welcomed 3 new members and 9 guests.  In total we had 54 registered.  An excellent finish for the year especially considering it was a short week. Business card draws were won by:
  • Anita Bird, Classy Cars
  • Ryan Elson - Redcliffe Chamber - Bring a Guest - Brad Flynn
  • Kent McDonald - Mystery Prize from Ian Plowman (Book)

The take a card and contact a member program has been producing some great results.
The table discussion If you had one free business hour each day, how would you use it? Produced some very lively and helpful discussion.
Our Member Speaker was from Ian Plowman.  He conducted an engaging presentation on the subject of Ian Plowman - 'Co-operative Conversations' - so good in fact that members requested a ‘Part 2’ session which is scheduled for July.
Membership renewals are now overdue! We only pay a token membership fee.  Many other chambers ask substantially larger financial contributions from its members. The success of The Hills and Districts Chamber of Commerce lies not in the fees, it lies in engaged members.  People prepared to commit their time, energy and effort into making the chamber a welcoming and friendly place to promote our community of for and not for profit enterprises. Please renew your registration now.

Reminder:  Membership renewals are now due

STOP THE PRESS! The Chamber is hosting a series of Business Showcases monthly on a Thursday evening. We are seeking expressions of interest from members who would like to host an event at their place of business between 5:30-7pm. This is an opportunity to impart your wisdom and introduce other business people to your products/services/industry. If you would like to join the Thursday Business Showcase schedule, talk to me or email me. If you do not have a workplace suitable for hosting an event, we can help find you a venue.
This is a great opportunity to promote yourself and what you do in a networking environment. The communications committee will help organise the event and promote it using the membership list, and the 15/20 minute presentation, drinks and canapes are on you! Lets help each other by learning from each other. If you would like to contribute ideas to our committee, just let me know!  Alisa
