Welcome to the Hills & District Chamber of Commerce - a friendly and supportive business group bridging the Ferny Hills, Arana Hills, Ferny Grove, Keperra, Mitchelton and surrounding districts. Established 1992, our Chamber is not-for-profit and is affiliated with the Chamber of Commerce and Industry Queensland.
If you are involved in a business and live or work in the Hills Districts, why not register for the next meeting - new members and visitors are always welcome.

Business Showcase - Samford Garage

Our second Hills Chamber Business Showcase was held at the Samford Garage on the 20th October. Ross Pickering and his team took us all through the technical applications they use to service their large clientele. Thank you to Ross and Janet for their hospitality and generosity. Meet Charmaine Renaud

Banksia Women's Healing Centre

Tell us how you first got involved in your industry/business?
A burning desire to help others to become healthy.

What has surprised you most about working with your clients?
I love seeing the transformation of a tired, sick and unhappy woman to become the true authentic person she really is.

What do you find that your clients find most challenging that you can help them with?
Often these women feel there is no hope to be calm, happy, relaxed and energised.

What do you wish other people knew about you or your business?
The body is a powerful tool and it can heal naturally if the support is there to back it up.

Tell us about someone who has influenced your career?
My husband who has let me grow, and become a confident woman I am today.

What might (someone) be surprised to know about you?
I went from suffering low self esteem, and a severe lump in my pancreas 20 years ago to completing 4 half marathons, and a successful natural health practice today. I beleive life can evolve for all good.

What do you think will change in your field over the next five years?
The health industry is a trillion dollar business and is growing! People do not know how to care for their body. I believe education is the key.

Hello from Port Douglas everyone. What an interesting and historical town with its constructive eccentricities. No Maccas, no franchise type businesses and no crime. They still leave houses and cars unlocked.

The people are all about generating their own healthy economy. Even their Sunday Markets only accept stall holders who create and produce locally using locally sourced products. As you know your Chamber has a similar philosophy.

On the back of a wonderful showcase event at The Samford Garage where we turned out in numbers and joined with the Samford Chamber in a top social and educational evening I have taken my own vehicle servicing and repairs to Ross Pickering and his team. Thank you for getting this event off the ground Alisa.

Lastly what a great feeling it was to send letters off to the recipients of the Big Breakfast fund raising and to receive their thanks on your behalf. We urgently need to get next year's event launched and need someone to chair our willing and experienced committee.
Enjoy, Ron

The Business Showcase at Samford Garage was a real hit with around 50 members from The Hills and Districts and Samford Chambers in attendance. We heard Ross's story and how he's been in business since 1968 and how technology has served him well over the years to bring him up to speed with the latest service offerings for his clients.
This is a great opportunity to learn how others in our neighbourhood do business. Stay tuned for details of the first business showcase event for 2017... among other things!

Thanks to Kelly Whilock for another fantastic job on the newsletter! and best wishes to Brooke Fossey who is having some time off to enjoy her new baby, Piper.  Cheers, Alisa

Executive Representative | James Niven

As we near the end of 2016, we are currently looking at a Buy Local Campaign revolving around the Hills Carnivale 2017 Festival. Working closely with MBRIT & MBRC we are wanting this to have an influence on attracting new membership to the chamber and also providing some healthy exposure to our current members to the wider Hills District.…   James
