Dear GCCA+ partners,
I am very pleased to introduce you to the GCCA+ Support Facility, established by the Directorate General for International Cooperation and Development (DEVCO) in September 2015 to provide technical assistance under the EU GCCA+. This flagship initiative supports climate resilience in the world’s most climate vulnerable countries, in particular Least Developed Countries (LDCs) and Small Island Developing States (SIDS).
Some of you work for public or private sector organisations, others are involved with NGOs or in civil society and some of you are also members of the scientific community. Regardless of your affiliation, I would like to inform you about the support the GCCA+ facility can provide.
Whether you require short-term technical assistance or more structured support, tailored to the needs of a specific strategy and/or project/programme, the GCCA+ Support Facility may be able to help.
In recent months, the global community has made significant steps forward in the fight against climate change with, for example, the inclusion of climate change in the Sustainable Development Goals and the successful outcome of the UNFCCC COP 21 climate conference.
With climate change finally occupying its rightful place at the top of the international policy agenda, it is important now for initiatives, such as the GCCA+, to build on this momentum and provide support for those countries ready to start implementing appropriate changes.
With this in mind, please take a moment to read details of the specific services that GCCA+ Support Facility offers. We would be delighted to receive any requests for technical assistance from you. You can email us at firstname.lastname@example.org or contact the European Union Delegation in your country/region or the Directorate General for International Cooperation and Development (DEVCO), Unit C6 'Sustainable Energy and Climate Change' overseeing the GCCA+ programme, by contacting Ms Tanith Bello (Tanith.Bello@ec.europa.eu).
Christophe Legrand, Team Leader of the GCCA+ Support Facility
