Dear Colleagues,

This month, we're excited to offer up several helpful resources for manufacturers and entrepreneurs, along with a growing lineup of educational events.

I'm eager to hear what additional content might be useful to you in the coming year. Let me know! And I look forward to seeing many of you at our prototyping event on December 1 (we're very close to selling out).

MAKE IT IN LA is Mayor Garcetti’s region-wide initiative
to connect and celebrate the nation’s largest community of makers.

Need Incentives?

MAKE IT IN LA often hears that businesses need help connecting with incentives to make it easier to do business in LA. That’s why we worked with the LA Mayor’s Office for Economic Development to create a new online guide to business incentives for manufacturers. Check it out here.

Smart Prototyping

Our next MAKE IT IN LA event will be hosted by LACI on Dec. 1. Three experts will share their secrets for turning your idea in a real product, and preparing it for manufacturing. Brief talks will be followed by networking, demos, and a tour of the Advanced Prototyping Center. NEARLY FULL: register here.

She's Fearless

Celebrity chefs and makers are crazy for Ellen Bennett's aprons. Find out how this unconventional 29-year-old went from Mexican lottery announcer to successful manufacturing CEO (and why she has two tree houses in her factory!) in the latest episode of The Art of Manufacturing podcast. Bonus segments from the White House with US CTO Megan Smith and Adam Savage about the maker movement.

New Export Program

95% of the world’s population lives outside the United States; then why do only 1% of U.S. companies export? LA Mayor Garcetti’s Office of Economic Development launched a new Export Program to help local businesses access this huge, untapped opportunity.

Educational Series

A sold-out crowd at our last MAKE IT IN LA event, hosted by The MiA Project Store, shared ideas for branding, connecting with local manufacturers, and sustaining our unique manufacturing base. Stay tuned for a new line-up of monthly events in the new year! In the meantime, visit our regional events calendar.

“CA Made” Brand

Are you a domestic manufacturer that produces products in this state? The governor’s office launched a new “CA Made” brand and licensing program. Learn how to apply, and email us if you'd like to participate in an upcoming summit to weigh in on this and other policy issues.

Support Us!

MAKE IT IN LA depends on local supporters like you to sustain its programming. Would you like to reach a targeted audience of growth-minded entrepreneurs, small businesses, and manufacturers? Email us to inquire about sponsoring our podcast or educational series, or hosting an event!
