Special Thawra (Revolution) Edition

(Data from: October 17, 2019 till, December 1, 2019)
"The Lebanese protests have ignited an unprecedented national movement. This is seemingly in response to the proposed taxation on gasoline, tobacco and online phone calls through WhatsApp. Yet, in the case of Lebanon, the ballooning of economic, social and environmental and health disparities, are the perfect recipe for disaster, which the government has failed in detecting warning signs and as such in preparing for its catastrophic results.
The protests build on years of frustration and anger at a ruling class whose blatant corruption and government incompetence chipped away at the country's resources, while political insecurity brought on by years of civil wars, multiple invasions, and numerous crises further exacerbated an already crumbling economy. Lebanon has one of the highest debts to GDP ratio worldwide, inequalities are skyrocketing, unemployment rate are steadily rising, the waste crisis remains unresolved, and universal health coverage remains far-fetched.
Let's review below the major demands voiced by protestors".

Dr. Fadi El Jardali
K2P Founding Director
