*Click to watch and listen to the real meaning of Christmas from some sweet little voices!*
Dear Parents,

Photos & Parties: A HUGE thank you to all who helped with and attended our parties this week! It takes a small army to pull them off and I'm so grateful for each one of you! In addition to our Christmas story video above you can also view photos from our parties on our class website (photos up later today).

Reading: We read the story Schools Around the World by Margaret C. Hall. We read individually, in groups, and with partners to help build our vocabulary, sight words, and reading fluency. Our essential question was “How are schools different from one another?” We discussed the purpose of schools and decided that the most important learning we do is about God and how He wants us to live. We worked on vocabulary, practiced the long e sound spelled ee and ea, proofread our spelling words, learned important dictionary features, and reviewed action verbs.

Math: We took our unit assessment for our measurement unit on Monday and then began a new unit. We will be learning double-digit subtraction with borrowing. To build our foundation we have been reviewing place value using money.

Time Tests: Our goal is for every student to pass Addition level Z by the end of January when we will be moving to subtraction. We have discussed in class that math is a muscle that we have to exercise or it becomes weak! I encourage you to help your child practice his/her math facts daily by using time tests, flashcards, XtraMath.org, or any other method that helps them increase in speed. If you would like hard copies of our time tests, please let me know and I will send a set home for you.

Cursive: We learned the letters S, I, and Q this week. We are five letters away from knowing all our cursive letters!

Social Studies: We worked hard on the final drafts of our fairytales and enjoyed our German Feast and Gingerbread Party! Today we had an author celebration by reading our fairytales to one another.

Bible: This week we finished up our study of Advent. We also finished up learning Luke 2:8-16 in class and made a flip book to bring home for continued practice. Please continue to work on the Bible memory over our vacation as it is due on Monday, January 6th.

Wishing you a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

In Christ,
