Message from the CEO
Dear all,
A key aspect of urban growth is town planning; the process and procedures by which city governments provide permissions for land development and building construction are critical to the way urban and industrial centres develop.

At ELCITA, we have put in place a clear and robust process. Though much of the built infrastructure is inherited from Keonics, KIADB, panchayat and district authorities, ELCITA members have been involved in supporting new constructions to accommodate their growing workforce.

ELCITA’s Town Planning processes are available online on our website. We also use a Building Plan Approval software that verifies the plan submitted by the architect for compliance and documents the approval process, with due diligence and strict adherence to the rules.

We have several happy members in Tech Mahindra, IIITB, Focus Technologies, Infosys, Velankani etc. who have said that their experience in getting licence approvals to occupancy certificate from ELCITA has been great. ELCITA appreciates ELCItizens for adhering to building bye-laws and supporting sustainable development.

Let us work together to ensure a planned and sustainable growth of ELCITA township.

Festival Time, Green Thoughts!

As we start our festive season with Ganesh Chaturthi, let us ensure that we celebrate our festivals in an eco-friendly manner.  Clay Ganesha idols, decoration with flowers and earthen lamps, donnes or areca nut plates for serving prasada are simple and easy to adopt practices. Immerse smaller clay idols in a bucket in your own homes. Larger idols should be immersed only in designated Kalyanis.

Remember, PoP idols painted with toxic chemical colours are banned by KSPCB. Let us also avoid the use of plastics. Used Pooja materials like flowers should be composted - you can also send the same to our Leaf Composting Centre.

Our festivals have their roots in respecting nature, so let us be true to our tradition.

Bengaluru's police solution for traffic - staggered working hours for IT companies

Additional Police Commissioner (Traffic) R Hithendra presented before the government's sub-group on traffic chaired by Chief Secretary Arvind Jadhav on Saturday. Getting the IT firms to stagger their working hours is one of the options discussed.

As for Electronics City, the police say the Silk Board junction is the only trouble spot. There is not much problem beyond that because Electronics City is connected by an elevated road.   The IT firms in Electronics City employ about 1.5 lakh workers and the companies there have already implemented both staggered and flexi working hours.

Karnataka's Grand Challenge to start-ups to solve Bengaluru's Sewage Problems

Priyank Kharge, Karnataka’s IT minister is wooing technology  entrepreneurs and coders in Bengaluru to solve local challenges that dog the capital city, which they can take to solve similar issues in smaller cities in the state.

The first of the projects under the Grand Challenge is around managing wastewater, an issue that has caused heartburn to Bengaluru citizens who have to navigate waterlogged roads during every downpour.

Start-ups will have to send in proposals on how they would build a system for real time monitoring of the quality of water discharged from sewage treatment plants. The move is part of the state’s plan to foster the development of at least 25 tech-led solutions that have a social impact. Entries for the first Grand Challenge will close in September.

I live in Neeladri Nagar and work with CGI, Electronic City, Bengaluru, as an associate. I have been here for a long time, and I really like this place. I am originally from Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh and I stay here with some of my colleagues in a women's hostel and that is really fun, I must say.
E-city is full of new opportunities from a career perspective. In addition, it also has beautiful greenery which makes it a lovely place.
The best part about this place is that it’s quite safe for girls even at night. I feel comfortable taking a post-dinner walk on the streets. I am really enjoying life here and exploring more about this city.

*e-citizen is a series that portrays different facets of people working in Electronics City.

Electronics City started during the time of Devaraj Urs. It was started with an ambition to provide free electric bulbs to people in Bangalore. RK Baliga known as the father of Electronics City took a lead to realize this dream. Now, Electronics City is the Silicon Valley of India.
