2017 Bishop's Clergy Convocation Invites You to Soul Tend

This winter, GNJ clergy are invited to a special time of renewal, learning, and fellowship at the 2017 Bishop's Clergy Convocation at the Ocean Place Resort in Long Branch. From January 23-25, 2017, attendees will hear from author, coach and consultant Susan Beaumont and enjoy a special event presented by The Music Paradigm. District Superintendent News 

New Delaware Bay District Superintendent 

Rev. Glenn J. Conaway will be the new District Superintendent for the Delaware Bay District. Rev. Conaway has served GNJ for 30 years in Fairton, Moorestown and at Trinity UMC in Mullica Hill. His appointment will begin on July 1, 2017. Click here to read more information. 

Capital District Superintendent Varlyna Wright to Retire 

For the past six years, Varlyna Wright has served as the Capital District Superintendent. She will retire on June 30, 2017 as she feels called to pursue renewed relationships with family and new opportunities. Click here to read a message from Varlyna.


Graceful Controversies 

Bishop Schol invites all laity and clergy from GNJ into a deeper conversation to develop our hopes and aspirations for the future of The United Methodist Church and send them to the Commission on the Way Forward. We will hold a gathering on March 4, 2017, for GNJ members to identify how best we would like to see the church move forward and all church members and clergy are welcome to participate. Fore more info and resources, click here. 

Bishop Schol's Statement on NC Youth Event 

A few hundred people walked out of a North Carolina youth event during a session dealing with pain and racism felt by young Hispanic-Latinos who had earlier been victims of intimidation, conference officials said. Click here to read the full story and Bishop's Schol's response statement. 

Year-End Statistical Report Training 

Year-end statistical reports training is open to clergy and laity. We encourage pastors, finance committees, stewardship teams, treasurers, financial secretaries, and auditing committees to attend. Wespath Investment Management is the asset manager for the Stewardship Foundation. Its mission is to enable clients to meet their investment objectives while honoring the value of the United Methodist Church. Wespath is a division of Wespath Benefits and Investments, which was formerly known as the General Board of Pensions and Health Benefits.
