Dear Marburn Academy Families,
At approximately 2 p.m. today, Governor DeWine made an order that all K–12 schools close for an extended three-week Spring Break beginning Monday at the close of the school day due to the spread of COVID-19 (coronavirus.)
Following this order, Marburn Academy is electing to close to students beginning after dismissal tomorrow, Friday, March 13 through at least Friday, April 3. Faculty and staff will report on Monday, March 16 in order to prepare for the coming weeks.
We will not be enacting our distance learning plan prior to our regularly scheduled Spring Break. We will, however, send technology home with all students tomorrow in preparation for enacting the plan in the future. Next week, teachers will be in contact with families to provide resources for recursive practice. Note: If you have not signed the technology agreement, please click here and do so now.
Things are changing on a daily basis. As the COVID-19 situation evolves we will get a better understanding of our directives following April 3rd and we will be in communication when we know what is next.
In the event that we move to distance learning, Marburn Academy recognizes that it is not a substitute for in-person, day-to-day instruction and it is particularly difficult for children with learning differences. Nevertheless, we will make every effort to provide students with the opportunity to continue their studies. Even more importantly, we will prioritize students’ social and emotional needs during an uncertain time by creating opportunities for connection, routine, and “normalcy”.
Also, an element of Governor DeWine’s order was to cancel mass gatherings (100 people or more.) At this link, you will find a full list of events and their current status through the end of the school year. We will keep this list updated as things change. Please check back on a regular basis.
Again, we want to assure you we are in contact with local health professionals and attending to updated announcements to help guide our decisions. As we have stated, our number one priority is the health and safety of our community.
Thank you for your partnership.
