Further information and action plan regarding cardholder with COVID-1

Dear Community,

As a follow-up to our previous communications about a Pure cardholder who tested positive for COVID-19, and our temporary club closure and free suspension offer announcement yesterday, we want to provide you with further details here.

Centre closures
We have been made aware of other individuals who have been reported as testing positive with COVID-19 who may have visited Pure Fitness, and have been undertaking our own investigations around this whilst requesting further information from the authorities. In the meantime, and as a precautionary measure, we have made the decision to close all Pure Fitness and Pure Yoga Hong Kong locations for 14 days with immediate effect from March 20th to April 2nd, re-opening on April 3rd. As soon as we receive a response to our enquiries, we will update our community with more clarity.

During the closure period, each Pure location will undergo a thorough, sealed deep cleaning process with Ecolab Neutral Disinfectant Cleaner, which meets the standards of the USA’s Environmental Protection Agency’s criteria to be used against coronavirus.


Affected cardholder visits
Regarding the initial case, the individual visited our locations on the following dates and times over the past 14 days:
  • Pure Fitness California Tower – March 5 (12:18), 6 (18:57), 10 (13:08) and 11 (12.29)
  • Pure Fitness ICBC – March 4 (19:15), 8 (14:35) 12 (18:58), 14 (12:04) and 15 (14:56)
  • Pure Fitness Kinwick Centre – March 16 (19:39)
During these visits, the cardholder did not take any Group Fitness classes, nor use steam or sauna facilities, nor the nood food area. He trained alone at California Tower and Kinwick Centre, and only with a PT at Pure Fitness ICBC. The Personal Trainer who had contact with the known cardholder has shown no signs of the virus, but has been checked and cleared by a doctor and is quarantined for the next 14 days whilst awaiting test results. The Trainer’s clients have been informed of this procedure. Also, all staff at the three affected locations are undergoing a 14-day home-quarantine as a precautionary method.

The cardholder first showed signs of the virus on 17th March and was tested positive on the evening of 18th March. We were then informed about the cardholder’s test results, and we immediately arranged for deep “fogging” cleaning overnight at all three locations he attended over the last 14 days. The cleaning was undertaken by professional deep-cleaning organisation, ‘A Class System Company Ltd’, using EcoLab Neutral Disinfectant Cleaner which meets the standards of Environmental Protection Agency’s criteria to be used against COVID-19.

Membership suspension
In light of the above-mentioned 14-day closure of all Hong Kong locations, all Pure cardholders will receive a 14-day membership suspension from March 20th to April 2nd without charge.

We are actively monitoring the situation in line with the Centre for Health Protection’s guidelines. In the meantime, we thank the whole Pure community for your continued cooperation and we will continue to update you.
