As part of the Prince's Trust Team programme all team members have to take part in a community project, this teams project involved working at Llanelli District Cemetery to develop the Muslim burial area.
This experience was a massive learning curve for some learners, these including working in a team, working with Cemetery staff and also the volunteers from Departments of Work and Pension Llanelli, being creative and also carrying out physical labour. This project also made the learners more aware of different religions and procedures required with the burial arrangements; this some learners found extremely interesting.
The project was a great success and was made more enjoyable as the sun was shining. Everyone worked as a team to cut the grass, pull up weeds, tidy areas of waste grounds, dig, re soil and plant both plants and trees. The learners grew from strength to strength during community project and develop so many skills that can be utilised and furthermore develop their confidence in their own abilities.
To celebrate the learners’ success and journey on the Prince's Trust programme, the learners are conducting a presentation at Machynys Golf Club on the 27th July, to allow others to share their journey from week 1 to 12 on the programme.
