New children’s play area for Pwll

Work begins in July on a new children’s play area is to be installed next to Pwll Pavilion.  The play area will be installed on the tennis courts replacing one of the two courts with a new play area.  Llanelli Rural Council has recently completed a significant regeneration creating an access road and car park at Pwll Pavilion. The next phase is to install a children’s play area facility.  The favourite design (pictured) was chosen after a community consultation at Pwll School.

New volunteers required for Ponthenri Community Hall

Ponthenri Community Hall is looking for volunteers to form a new hall management committee.  In recent years the management of the hall has been done voluntarily by one person who is standing down.  A meeting is to be held at Ponthenri Community Hall on Wednesday 13 July, at 6.00pm.  Those interested in helping at the hall are welcome to attend.

Attempts have been made recently to generate more interest in the hall and to highlight the opportunities available to the community of Ponthenri.  On 13 June an event coordinated by Llanelli Rural Council was held called ‘Getting the most out of Ponthenri Hall’, where 13 information stands on various community services were on display.  Leader to Llanelli Rural Council, Cllr Carol Rees explained: “We wanted to put something on to highlight the services on offer to the community.  We had information on such things as Time Credits and Men’s Sheds which could be used to generate more community activity at Ponthenri Hall. It is not used to full capacity during week nights which is a shame.  We received some great suggestions which can be presented to the new committee when they are in place.”

If you are interested in assisting on the new committee then please attend.  If you are interested but cannot attend the meeting please register your interest before the meeting by contacting Darren Rees at Llanelli Rural Council on 01554 774103 / darren.rees@llanelli-rural.gov.uk

Angen gwirfoddolwyr newydd i Neuadd Gymunedol Ponthenri

Mae Neuadd Gymunedol Ponthenri yn chwilio am wirfoddolwyr i ffurfio pwyllgor rheoli newydd i’r neuadd. Yn ystod y blynyddoedd diweddar cafodd rheolaeth y neuadd ei wneud yn wirfoddol gan un person sy’n rhoi’r gorau i’r swydd. Cynhelir pwyllgor yn Neuadd Gymunedol Ponthenri ar Ddydd Mercher 13 Gorffennaf, am 6.00pm. Mae croeso i’r rheiny sydd â diddordeb mewn helpu yn y neuadd i fynychu’r cyfarfod.

Yn ddiweddar ceisiwyd creu mwy o ddiddordeb yn y neuadd ac i amlygu’r cyfleoedd sydd ar gael i gymuned Ponthenri. Ar 13 Mehefin cynhaliwyd digwyddiad a gyflwynwyd gan Gyngor Gwledig Llanelli o’r enw "Cael y Gorau o Neuadd Ponthenri", lle’r arddangoswyd 13 stondin yn rhoi gwybodaeth am amrywiaeth o wasanaethau cymunedol. Esboniodd Arweinydd Cyngor Gwledig Llanelli, y Cynghorydd Carol Rees: “ Roedden ni am gynnal rhywbeth i amlygu’r gwasanaethau a gynigir i’r gymuned. Roedd gyda ni wybodaeth am bethau megis Credydau Amser a Siediau Dynion y gellid eu defnyddio i greu mwy o weithgaredd cymunedol yn Neuadd Ponthenri. Nid yw'n cael ei defnyddio i’w llawn botensial yn ystod nosweithiau’r wythnos ac mae hynny’n drueni. Fe dderbynion ni awgrymiadau ardderchog y gellir eu cyflwyno i’r pwyllgor newydd ar ôl iddo gael ei sefydlu.”

Os oes gennych ddiddordeb mewn cynorthwyo ar y pwyllgor newydd yna dewch i’r cyfarfod, os gwelwch yn dda. Os oes gennych ddiddordeb ond yn methu mynychu’r cyfarfod yna cofrestrwch eich diddordeb cyn y cyfarfod trwy gysylltu â Darren Rees yn Cyngor Gwledig Llanelli ar 01554 774103 / darren.rees@llanelli-rural.gov.uk

LRC Training

As part of the Prince's Trust Team programme all team members have to take part in a community project, this teams project involved working at Llanelli District Cemetery to develop the Muslim burial area.

This experience was a massive learning curve for some learners, these including working in a team, working with Cemetery staff and also the volunteers from Departments of Work and Pension Llanelli, being creative and also carrying out physical labour. This project also made the learners more aware of different religions and procedures required with the burial arrangements; this some learners found extremely interesting.

The project was a great success and was made more enjoyable as the sun was shining. Everyone worked as a team to cut the grass, pull up weeds, tidy areas of waste grounds, dig, re soil and plant both plants and trees. The learners grew from strength to strength during community project and develop so many skills that can be utilised and furthermore develop their confidence in their own abilities.

To celebrate the learners’ success and journey on the Prince's Trust programme, the learners are conducting a presentation at Machynys Golf Club on the 27th July, to allow others to share their journey from week 1 to 12 on the programme.

Hyfforddiant LRC

Fel rhan o raglen Tîm Prince's Trust mae’n rhaid i bob aelod o’r tîm gymryd rhan mewn prosiect cymunedol, ac roedd prosiect y tîm hwn yn golygu gweithio ym Mynwent Ardal Llanelli i ddatblygu’r ardal claddu i Fwslimiaid.

Roedd y profiad hwn yn aruthrol o addysgiadol i rai o’r dysgwyr, ac yn golygu gweithio mewn tîm, gweithio gyda staff y Fynwent a hefyd y gwirfoddolwyr o Adran Gwaith a Phensiynau Llanelli, bod yn greadigol a hefyd gwneud gwaith llafur corfforol. Llwyddodd y prosiect hwn hefyd i sicrhau bod y dysgwyr yn fwy ymwybodol o wahanol grefyddau a gweithdrefnau yn ymwneud â’r trefniadau claddu; Roedd hyn yn hynod o ddiddorol i rai o’r dysgwyr.

Dyma lwyddiant ysgubol ac roedd gymaint yn fwy pleserus gan fod yr haul yn tywynnu. Bu pawb yn gweithio fel tîm i dorri’r glaswellt, codi’r chwyn, tacluso ardaloedd o dir diffaith, palu, ailbriddio ac ailblannu planhigion a choed. Aeth y dysgwyr o nerth i nerth yn ystod y prosiect cymunedol gan ddatblygu cymaint o sgiliau y gallant eu defnyddio eto a meithrin eu hyder yn eu gallu eu hunain.

I ddathlu llwyddiant y dysgwyr a’u siwrnai ar raglen Prince's Trust, mae’r dysgwyr yn cynnal cyflwyniad yng Nghlwb Golff Machynys ar 27 Gorffennaf, i roi cyfle i eraill rannu eu siwrnai o’r wythnos gyntaf i’r 12fed wythnos ar y rhaglen.
