To Our Harbor East Marina Community -

We hope you are all enjoying a safe and pleasant summer! It has been wonderful to see the influx of seasonal and transient boaters to the Harbor East Marina after such a challenging and uncertain 2020. As you are likely aware, as of July 1 the State of Emergency has been lifted both state-wide and in Baltimore City, and as such, we are excited to be able to officially reintroduce various events and social gatherings, to ease mask-mandates, and to see smiles on the faces of all our boaters!

With the safety of our boating community in mind, we would like to take this opportunity to share some insightful, helpful, and useful information regarding security in Harbor East, its surrounding neighborhoods, and Baltimore City as a whole. The safety of our guests is our #1 priority, both on the water, while docked at the marina, and out exploring Baltimore's many attractions. We ask that you take a moment to review the information below so that you are equipped with relevant details regarding our local security services and guidelines and can enjoy some peace of mind while visiting us!

Harbor East Security Department
The neighborhood of Harbor East has many wonderful amenities and features that distinguish the district from other areas of Baltimore. One such amenity is our own private, 24-7 security team. The Harbor East Security Department is comprised of off-duty police, armed, and unarmed security officers who provide surveillance and support throughout the neighborhood. These trained security officers are staffed around-the-clock and are managed by a team of security professionals to help secure the area and to provide assistance for any security and/or safety related incident. Our security staff is also available to provide escort services around the Harbor East property.

Additionally, the Harbor East Security Department's Command Center is staffed full time and monitors activities in the area via surveillance cameras and radio communications with security staff on the ground. The Command Center also has direct access to the Southeast Baltimore City Police Department. Look for team members in the light blue "Harbor East Security" shirts either on foot or Segway while they are out patrolling and helping to keep the neighborhood safe!

Waterfront Partnership of Baltimore Safety Patrol Guides
Additionally, the waterfront area and Harbor Promenade is also patrolled by the Waterfront Partnership of Baltimore's safety guides. These safety guides are here to ensure that visitors to the waterfront leave with a positive impression of our city. Whether they are helping with directions, providing a safety escort, or assisting with a first-aid need, the Waterfront Partnership's safety guides are an added layer of support personnel available to make you feel welcomed, safe, and secure.

Harbor East Marina Security Measures
Right here within the Harbor East Marina, we have our own, gated enclosure with access codes updated monthly. Further, the entrance to the marina docks as well as the marina office is patrolled each night. The marina staff frequently meet with the Harbor East Security Department to address any concerns and to stay up to date on events and happenings in the area.

General Safety Guidelines & Suggestions
Of course, just steps outside of the docks, Harbor East is known for its acclaimed and ample variety of restaurants, bars, shops, and entertainment venues. From class Maryland seafood to sushi, steaks, and international cuisine, to live music venues, Harbor East Cinemas (opening Fall 2021) and more, you don't have to go far to enjoy a night on the town and in the secure, urban oasis on Harbor East.

While we have various safety support staff in place around Harbor East, as one would in all metropolitan and urban settings, please use common sense and sound judgement when venturing outside of the Harbor East campus in the evening hours. The Harbor Promenade provides a wonderful, walkable path to explore various waterfront neighborhoods during the day, however, we do strongly encourage the use of Ubers, taxis, and other forms of vehicular transportation when getting to and from Harbor East at night. If you have any questions about walkability to a particular destination or need recommendations of where to safely venture out for dinner, drinks, or nightly entertainment, the Harbor East Marina staff would be happy to provide their insights.

From all of us at the Harbor East Marina, we look forward to seeing you soon and providing you a fun, safe, and enjoyable experience here in our neighborhood. Please do not hesitate to reach out with any questions or concerns - our staff stands ready to assist you and to welcome you to Baltimore!

Cheers,
The Team at Harbor East Marina
