This year marks the 10th anniversary of the Deaf Rugby programme, which has been one of the HKRU CF’s flagship initiatives, and in this bulletin you’ll hear about the celebratory events, and the latest milestone as our first cohort of deaf coaches proudly achieved certification.
We also focus on some key fundraising, both from events that have taken place like the Corporate Sevens and the KPMG x BritCham Rugby Dinner, and also looking ahead to the Race to the Rugby World Cup DHL Dinner in August, when we welcome two old friends of the Union, Ron Rutland and James Owens, as they pass through town on their way to deliver the referee’s whistle for the opening match in Japan…raising funds along the way for the wonderful Child Fund – Pass it Back initiative.
Enjoy the bulletin, and thanks for your continued support…always remember,

DEAF RUGBY APPRENTICES BECOME THE MASTERS!
“To show just how far this programme has come, we had a chat with some of the key contributors to the programme at the final day of a special six week training course. This course involved some of the original kids from the programme who have now become trained coaches, coaching the next generation of deaf rugby youngsters…”
A GENEROUS DONATION FROM THE CORPORATE 7S TOURNAMENT
Many thanks to Title Sponsors Savills, and other supporters KPMG and Macquarie Group for their generous donation to the Hong Kong Rugby Union Community Foundation's 'Tackling English' programme.
Special thanks to KPMG and BritCham for raised a whopping HKD$400,000 at their annual rugby dinner during the Hong Kong Sevens week! Thank you all for your kind support!
To mark this special occasion, over 60 people took part in the event, including students from Lutheran School for the Deaf, participants from the HKRUCF Deaf Rugby programme and Standard Chartered Volunteers.
