In Case You Missed It…

The circus has come to town in the form of Brian Kolfage, Steven Bannon and Kris Kobach’s We Build the Wall, Inc.  These people have made a deal with a neighboring landowner to build approximately 3 miles of freestanding “border wall” on the banks of the Rio Grande River—a wall segment that will not connect to any of the U.S. government’s proposed wall.  These proxies for President Trump have hired Fisher Industries, the company to which Trump has repeatedly pressured government agencies to award contracts, and they are building this “wall” without permits from the International Boundary & Water Commission (IBWC).

For some reason, the IBWC is taking a “hands off” position to this situation—a situation that violates the rules governing their treaty; specifically, “to preserve the Rio Grande and the Colorado River as the boundary by preventing the construction of works which may cause deflection or obstruction of the normal flow of the rivers or of their floodflows.”

We ask you to please contact members of the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, Water Resources and Environment Subcommittee (click link and scroll down), which has oversight of the IBWC, and request that they launch an investigation into the IBWC’s response to the illegal acts of We Build the Wall and Fisher Industries.

To fuel their fundraising efforts, We Build the Wall has turned their sights on the National Butterfly Center and Marianna, the director, defaming and demonizing both by virtue of their assertion the organization is a cartel front for human trafficking.

We Build the Wall, Inc., which is already under investigation by the State of Florida, employed these same tactics against people in Sunland Park, NM, where they built approximately ½ mile of wall just weeks before the El Paso Walmart Massacre.

Their libelous, provocative and inflammatory tactics are designed to stir up hate and fear. For this reason, we are increasing security measures for the center and Marianna.  We are also seeking legal representation to STOP this and the construction, which will divert water flow to surrounding properties during flood events.

If you are able, please take action on our behalf.  Donations to Defend the NBC are both needed and appreciated!
