Creating new leaders

Have you got a newly promoted team leader, supervisor or manager or have you got your eye on one of your team for promotion next year? Studies show that a high number of new leaders fail and the cost to your business can be high. It is difficult to move into a leadership position in a company you are already working in as there are changes in working relationships as well as increased responsibility and new skills to learn. New leaders need a lot of support and assistance and you won’t always have the time to give. Training and mentoring for your new leaders is the key to their success, along with the support you will need to provide to them while settling into their new role. I am able to offer training and mentoring sessions on a one on one basis or in small groups if you have a few people who could benefit, and I am also able to offer ongoing support. Contact me for more information.

Each team member needs a position description

It is a legislative requirement to provide a position description to every employee in your business. These can be contained within your employment agreement or on a separate document but must be provided when someone starts working for you. If you don’t have up to date position descriptions on file for each and every person you can be penalised if you are visited by a labour inspector. Position descriptions are also very useful building blocks for many other processes within your HR system. Performance reviews, disciplinary procedures and succession planning are all made much easier if there are up to date position descriptions to use. If you need updated (or new) position descriptions then give me a call and I can help you develop these for your team.

Fresh team members for 2018
