Welcome to the 6th edition of APSA News. We will share with you about various diabetes-related topics as well as all that has been happening at APSA since the beginning of the year. We will also be sharing a patient's testimonial whose wound healed following his treatment at APSA Diabetes Care Centre.

Diabetes & Insulin

There are quite a number of patients (Type 1 and Type 2 diabetics) who have been prescribed insulin by medical practitioners. However, many of them are still unaware of its functions, how to use it, how to store it properly or how to adapt the dosage adequately. This article will shed some light on insulin and enable patients as well as their families to better understand it. Insulin is an hormone made by the pancreas that allows the body to use sugar (glucose) from carbohydrates, which is the food that you eat, for energy or to store glucose for future use. PODEM now broadcast every Wednesday

Excellent News… The radio program “Pran Ou Diabet En Main” (PODEM), which was previously a bimonthly one, is now being broadcast on a weekly basis on Radio One. The audience can listen to it every Wednesday between 10:30am and 11:00am. Each Sunday, the show is also broadcasted again on the website of Radio One - www.r1.mu.

APSA at RT Knits

RT Knits a well-known textile company, believes in the famous quote ‘Health is Wealth’. For this reason, the company organised a Health and Safety week for their staff in April. APSA was hence invited to do a talk on ‘Diabetes and Cardiovascular Diseases’ on 26th April at their head office in La Tour Koenig. The main objective was to create awareness to enable the staff to take better care of their health and that of their families.…
