Invest in the future -  meeting in Iceland

The Global Compact Nordic Network and SA – Business Iceland hosted an open seminar in Reykjavík Iceland on December 5. The theme was Responsible Investments:  UN Global Compact and the Sustainable Development Goals. Several keynote speakers talked about possible business opportunities for responsible companies. Global Compact Network Denmark established
24 of October 2017, Copenhagen

The new Danish Global Compact Network was established on October 24 2017 in Copenhagen at a founding general assembly with more than 100 participants. The Danish Minister of Finance, Kristen Jensen, Global Compact CEO, Lise Kingo, member of Parliament, Kirsten Brosbøl and Former President of UN General Assembly, Mogens Lykketoft, attended the meeting and presented the importance of Global Compact and the role of business to achieve the sustainable development goals. Global Compact Network Denmark is an independent local network, working closely with Global Compact in New York and complementing the Nordic Network. The mission of the Danish network is to inspire and facilitate that Danish companies work with sustainability, as a value creating part of their core business by adhering to the 10 UNGC Principles and working with the Sustainable Development Goals. The network is business driven and engages with businesses, civil society and other stakeholders to create value for its members.


The new board was democratically elected at the founding general assembly. 22 candidates had put themselves available for election and among them the elected board members are:

Global Compact Network Norway
1 of February 2018, Oslo

A process has been started in order to consider the set-up of a Norwegian network. All Norwegian signatories will be invited to a meeting in Oslo on 1 February 2018. At the meeting, Ole Lund Hansen, responsible for the local networks in UNGC, will be present, and hopefully Lise Kingo as well. The participants will hear presentations about the new global strategy for UNGC and its implications for local network. A value proposition will be presented and discussed. Finally, all the members present will be invited to give their view on the initiative to establish a Norwegian network.

Global Compact Network in Sweden and Finland


A process to establish a local network in Sweden and Finland has also been started. More information will follow in the next update.
