With a focus of preparing candidates to be effective educators in urban settings, the Brady Partnership Schools initiative is poised to graduate it's first set of teachers. The partnership is a specialty track, within our early childhood education licensure program, and affords UToledo students with the opportunity to fully engage in rich school settings. Master teachers help the student teachers develop skills and dispositions aligned to diverse classrooms.  "The Brady Partnership Schools project has changed my outlook on education...It has given me the opportunity to learn so much more about my placement school, my students, and especially myself," stated Amanda Hayes, a Brady Partnership senior.
Christine Fox (Professor in Research and Measurement) has recently been recognized as one of the top influential authors in the field of Rasch measurement, as reported in Frontiers in Psychology. Specifically, Fox and her colleague Dr. Trevor Bond (James Cook University, Australia) are co-authors of a book titled Applying the Rasch Model: Fundamental Measurement in the Human Sciences.  This book, and it's two previous editions, are three of the top influential publications in this field. The Rasch Model refers to a family of psychometric models inspired by a Danish mathematician named Georg Rasch.
Our online early childhood fast-track program has been ranked by INTELLIGENT as #40 in the nation. Special recognition as "Best Student Support Service" was also noted for UToledo. This program is designed to help students complete a bachelor's degree. Employment of preschool teachers is expected to increase by 10% in the next seven years, which is faster than average for all occupations.   Click here to view the rankings.

UToledo's Student Council for Exceptional Children spent time before the holidays creating craft kits. These kits were designed to engage children and were donated to Family House; Toledo's non-profit dedicated to keeping families together in times of crisis. Pictured is Brandy Bowen, a senior studying special education, as she delivered the kits.
