2018 is heating up in more ways than one, with two bumper Sandpiper fundraising events on the horizon.
If you need cooled down, then get wet at our very own Lanrick Challenge, an obstacle course where getting dirty isn't optional! For a more sedate experience, join our Inaugural Every Second Counts Dinner, where you'll be entertained from start to finish by Fred MacAulay & Gavin Hastings. Taking part in either, will help raise vital funds to ensure that we can continue to save lives in our communities. Plus you'll have a great time along the way. Keep reading for more details.

We'd also like to take a minute to recognise the huge efforts of our amazing volunteers. One of our Wildcat responders recently attended an emergency call out. The note below, written by the bereaved parents, highlights the real value that we bring at the hardest of times.  In addition, we'd like to give credit to our lovely fundraisers, who come from far and wide, and for different reasons, to support us. We hope you too will be inspired to get involved.

A message of thanks

While our aim is always to strive to save lives, unfortunately this is not always possible. In these heart-breaking circumstances, we have come to understand that having one of our responders present in itself brings much comfort to the families involved. A Wildcat responder recently received this note of thanks. I think you'll agree that these words express the difference our work makes, even at the saddest of times.

Dear Responder,

We would like to thank you very much for your help on the night that we lost our precious daughter.

We now realise that she had passed away a good while earlier and there was nothing that could be done to save her. XXX was relieved to have someone there to help him and despite the tragic circumstances it was nice for him to have someone he knew. Thank you too for attending our daughters funeral and we were glad you came and spoke to us.

Life is now hard and the miss is huge, but our daughters trials with her condition are now over. We hold dear all the memories of her short life.

Yours thankfully

A bereaved Mother and Father

Support comes in all shapes and sizes

We'd like to share a few fundraising stories with you. Much as we'd love to, it's impossible to include details of every donation received here but suffice to say that we appreciate every single penny gifted to us.
Laura's Marathon Fundraiser
Sitting her medical exams in July, didn't phase Laura Meney as she set aside precious time to take on the huge challenge of running the Edinburgh Marathon. We are grateful that she did and were delighted to receive £468 thanks to her efforts! Thanks so much Laura, and good luck with your exams.
William's 100 Hole Hike
Would you fancy playing 100 holes of golf in one day? That’s exactly what William Stewart did, playing from 5am till 7pm in Greenwich, Connecticut. It wasn’t just blisters raised, William reached a massive fundraising total of £1181, all of which he donated to Sandpiper. What a guy.
All the best to Team von Hoff

After having two premature children, who were born 11 & 16 weeks early, the von Hof  family want to give something back to the charities involved in their care, including the Sandpiper Trust. To celebrate their daughters first birthday, on the 28th & 29th July 2018 they will cycle Ottilie’s journey, starting on Arran and finishing at their home in Brodick. The 122 mile route is a mile for each day that Ottilie was in hospital.

giving page.
It's a knockout success for Moray couple

In 2012 John Thomson was involved in a life changing accident. Since then and in return for the life saving care he received, John and his wife Denise have raised thousands of pounds for Moray Immediate Care Scheme and The Sandpiper Trust. Their latest fundraiser involved taking part in Buckie’s ‘It’s a knock out’ and raised £650 which was gratefully received by Sandpiper.

Massive thanks to Karen (Wildcat Kemnay) along with Abigail, Elodie, Rhona, Kyra & Shameera from Kemnay Primary who held a young entrepreneur day and raised money for Sandpiper Wildcat. Special thanks to Gillian Adams, Boatleys, Kemnay for her kind donation from her pop up shop at her farm.
Deans kick-start  Sandpiper pledge
We are so pleased that Deans has chosen to support Sandpiper Wildcat. Not just because we love their shortbread! Their recent car boot sale at the Market Muir in Huntly raised over £3100.
Stonehaven teenagers get involved
We are humbled by the generosity of the S3 PDA Group, Mackie Academy for raising a fantastic £633.20. Special thanks to Christine Ward and Jack MacDougall for making it all happen.
Ride the North & Sandpiper Trust CPR session
On Wed 4 July, we are running a session in conjunction with Ride the North. CPR? Defibrillator use? Administering First Aid? Would you know what to do? Would you benefit from a refresh? Come along to Kinellar Hall, Blackburn, Aberdeenshire at 1830 hrs. This collaboration will give the session a bit of a cycling focus, but the themes are universal! It is free of charge and open to all (not just Ride the North participants) ...there is even mention of cakes! Get in touch if you'd like to book a place. Email Keri -
