Help!!!
We had some damage in the Fellowship Hall from flooding back in March and enough of the repair work has been done that we can begin the process of putting everything in order. We are going to head downstairs after worship this Sunday. Many hands make light work, so if you'd like to join us, we'd welcome your help!
10am Worship Livestream
For this year's summer sermon series, you get to tell us which verses you'd like to hear us preach! Here's how it works:

1. Check out the lectionary readings for the upcoming Sundays.

2. Vote to tell us which passage you want to hear preached.

3. In order to have time to plan accordingly, voting closes two Wednesdays before the sermon is preached.

Help our unsheltered neighbors as they experience COVID-19's Delta variant

The recent surge in Covid-19 cases due to the Delta variant is having a major impact on our unsheltered neighbors. The Connecting Grounds is continuing to do outreach, but they are having to shift how they do it in order to make it safer for everyone. There are ways you can support these efforts! If you would like to purchase items that are handed out during their outreach times, you can purchase them through their Amazon Wishlist. The items they are most needing right now are sunscreen, bug spray, gatorade, freezer pops, and shelf stable food that doesn't need to be prepared or heated up in a microwave. They are also looking for people to make sack lunches and assemble first aid kits, so if that's something you're interested in helping with, just reply to this e-mail and let us know.

Here's a list of more of their pressing needs:

Children & Youth Updates

Friday Fun Night
Children up through fifth grade and parents/guardians are invited to a swim party at the home of the Goode's on Friday, July 30 from 5:30-7:30. Pizza and lemonade will be served. Please contact Sarah Stephenson (sarik3@att.net) for more information.

Youth News
Last Wednesday, a dozen youth gathered to make around 45 sack lunches for the unsheltered in our community. They decorated lunch bags with uplifting messages and then assembled food to put into the lunches. Last Wednesday evening, 15 youth gathered at a venue to play with nerf guns for an hour. They are already asking for another night of nerf fun. Afterward, we gathered for tacos and spent some time in discussion and group activities.

Our initial phase of beginning youth activities was designed to create shared experiences as a way for teens to begin to get to know one another. We will continue with Volunteens twice a month, where youth will work on our mission focus which is primarily, but not limited to, outreach for the unsheltered and the food insecure in our community. At Volunteens, youth are busy doing whatever is necessary to assist our mission based on guidance from The Outreach Center associated with The Connecting Grounds church.

As Fall approaches we will be working through a faith formation series called "Can I Ask That?" Parents and Guardians are invited to explore http://www.stickyfaith.org. Of particular note is a blog for parents.

Check out https://fulleryouthinstitute.org/blog/how-parents-can-have-better-conversations-with-teenagers for tips on how to have more meaningful conversations with your teen.

Cooperative Youth Group
Volunteens will meet at Brentwood Christian Church next Wednesday, July 28 from 5-7 p.m. We will be working on creating care packets for youth and families to hand out to the unsheltered citizens on our streets. We will also begin to look at "sticky questions" of faith as we encourage youth to be open about their beliefs and disbeliefs on faith, the Bible, God and Jesus, etc. There will be a frozen t-shirt competition and there may be water balloons. No supplies are needed and pizza will be provided.

Deep Gratitude
A million thanks to all the friends who donated food, water, power drinks and supplies for the youth to create food bags for our unsheltered and food insecure citizens. We had a goal of assembling 25 bags, but because of your generosity, were able to assemble nearly 50 bags. Thank you once again. And thank you to Jessica and Shannon for the never ending number of peanut butter and jelly sandwiches they created!
