US citizen pleads guilty to conspiring to violate US Iran sanctions
Mehdi Hashemi, an Iranian/American dual national, has pleaded guilty in a Los Angeles District Court to conspiring to violate the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA) by shipping prohibited machinery from the US to Iran.
The indictment states that Mr Hashemi received shipments from Canada and the US of computer numerical control machines, which can be used to process raw materials, including metals, to exact standards.
