Annual Delegation to Sacramento: May 24-25
Applications are open for the annual Chamber Leadership Delegation to Sacramento. Similar to the California-Mexico Trade Initiative, this trip allows delegates to participate in exclusive high-level meetings, discuss industry specific issues, and network with key government officials and business leaders. Apply by April 15 to take advantage of our "early bird" pricing.
Free Downtown Shuttle Approved by Civic San Diego
Chamber staff testified in support of the Downtown Circulator, a free shuttle that was approved by Civic San Diego February 24. Workers, residents, and visitors will be able to hail one of the on-demand vehicles as early as 7 a.m. until midnight.

Vets' Community Connections Officially Launched
Chamber President & CEO Jerry Sanders spoke at a press conference on behalf of the Vets' Community Connections (VCC) initiative that launched February 25. The initiative, which was created through a coalition between the Chamber, 2-1-1 San Diego, San Diego County, San Diego Veterans Coalition, and other community organizations, allows San Diegans to lend their local expertise to veterans through a simple, and easy phone call.

UETA Duty Free Americas Hosts Meeting with U.S.-Mexico Chamber of Commerce
Chamber staff participated in a meeting hosted by Chamber member, UETA Duty Free Americas, with Al Zapanta, President of the U.S.-Mexico Chamber of Commerce. The meeting was an excellent opportunity to establish a strong alliance between both chambers as we continue efforts to enhance our binational region as a unique economic zone.

The U.S.-Mexico Chamber has pledged its commitment to supporting the Chamber’s efforts during our upcoming Mexico City Trip.

Annual Delegation to Mexico City: April 17-20
Applications are open for the Chamber's 11th Annual California-Mexico Trade Initiative in Mexico City. In addition to meeting with high-level policy and business executives from both sides of the border, delegates also have an opportunity to attend a breakfast meeting at the Mexican Senate, hosted by the Senate President. Furthermore, all delegates flying out of Tijuana may take advantage of the recently opened Cross Border Xpress at no cost.

Update on the San Ysidro Port of Entry
The U.S. General Services Administration has released an update on the San Ysidro Port of Entry expansion and renovation project. The West Pedestrian Facility and Virginia Ave. Transit Center, are expected to be completed by June 2016; Phase 2 and 3 of the north and southbound pedestrian construction and vehicle improvements will begin this summer.

U.S.-Mexico High Level Economic Dialogue
U.S. Vice President Joe Biden and Mexican Secretary Luis Videgaray co-chaired the 2016 U.S.-Mexico High Level Economic Dialogue’s (HLED) third Cabinet-level meeting to review 2015’s progress and discuss goals for 2016. Previously, Chamber staff submitted feedback to HLED’s participants, including progress made from the Chamber's delegation to Washington, D.C.

Listed among the top 2016 priorities for both administrations is the new Otay II-Otay Mesa East port of entry project.
