Child Custody 101
Child custodyrefers to the rights and responsibilities parents have in taking care of their children and is deeply linked in many family law matters.
When parents cannot agree on a parenting plan during mediation, a judge will decide what is in the best interest of the child.
A parent may request a change to an existing custody or visitation order.

Free legal representation for child custody matters may be difficult to find. Self-Help Centers / Family Law Facilitatorsare a fantastic source of support.
