Welcome to the WHPC May 2018 Newsletter!

We are getting ready for WHPC@ISC18 in late June, and we are delighted to let you know that registration is now open! Check out our agenda to learn more about our activities below. Following the success of our Careers Networking Reception at SC17, we will be running a ‘Connecting Talent and Opportunity’ reception at ISC18, bringing together organisations that offer opportunities for women to build and thrive in their careers, from new jobs to training and education. If you would like to support us we want to hear from you!

In this month’s newsletter we also share news on the Minerva Award that recognises equality best practices in research organizations, scholarships for women of color to attend the Grace Hopper conference, and finally, a new Women in Science comic. Read on to find out more.

Finally: earlier this month we asked you to confirm your membership and mailing preferences for WHPC communications. If we don’t hear from you by 25th May, we will be removing you from our membership list in order to protect your privacy. If you want to continue receiving communications from us, please confirm your subscription preferences now.

WHPC@ISC18 Offers Workshop, BoF, and Evening Careers and Opportunities Reception

WHPC will once again be at the ISC High Performance conference this June in Frankfurt, Germany and we hope that you can join us. Conference and workshop registration is now open and starts from as little as 245 EUR for a student early-bird conference registration.

If you would like to attend, make sure you register for our Thursday workshop and our BoF on Wednesday. Note that the workshop requires an additional 125-175 EUR registration. In our BoF, presented in collaboration with other inclusion groups, panelists will discuss microaggression in HPC, what it is, why it is a problem, and what we can do about it. The WHPC@ISC18 workshop will once again focus on improving the number of women in the community and highlighting their experiences in order to increase both recruitment and retention.

Finally, following the success of our evening Careers reception at SC17, we will be running a WHPC Careers and Opportunities evening buffet dinner and we are seeking supporters. If your company/organization is interested in speaking to and networking with women in HPC on career opportunities, training, or products that will help advance their careers, then we want to hear from you! Get in touch.

We look forward to seeing you in Frankfurt!
