False River Regional Construction Update

The existing time frame for completion on the Airfield Pavement Reconstruction/Rehabilitation - Construction project is December 12.  We are hopeful that the project will be completed by the date; if not, it will be necessary to extend the NOTAM with airport closure past December 12.  All tenants will be notified should that become the case.

We are appreciative that all tenants and users of the airport on a regular basis understand that progress & improvements, unfortunately, sometimes make for extensive closure due to various factors.  But fortunately, progress & improvements also give the airport a solid base for insuring the safety of all aircraft flying out of and into the airport, which is our main goal.

We will keep everyone updated on any changes on the scheduled date of reopening.

Help Grow Our Readership
Asking Louisiana FAA Facilities for Help in This Edition

The distribution list for the Louisiana Aviation News continues to grow very slowly.  We gain 1-3 or so subscribers a week which is disappointing. This email went out to 1,202 subscribers (YEA!!.... we finally passed 1200!) which is nice…..but with the size of the Louisiana aviation community it should be many times that.

While the goal of has always been to benefit the entire Louisiana Aviation Community, over the next few weeks I’m going to challenge various segments of readers to help increase the distribution.   Last edition it was the FBO’s in Louisiana. Today, I’m going to continue with asking all of the Louisiana FAA Facilities - FSDO, ATC, etc.  for their assistance.

Here are a few things I would like the FAA Facilities to do to help increase the distribution:

  1. Forward this Louisiana Aviation News email to your employees and contractors so they can subscribe.
  2. Routinely put something in your newsletters or fliers about how to subscribe to the Louisiana Aviation News.
  3. Print a poster and put it on your bulletin boards.  You can get the poster by clicking HERE

To Subscribe to the Louisiana Aviation News click HERE and follow the instructions.  Or you can also scan this with your cell phone…

Stay tuned as I will pick another segment of the Louisiana aviation community in the next edition.  Thanks for your help.

Own Your Own Airport

Some aviation person really needs to own this house southeast of Baton Rouge with a paved runway on the property…...

Mid century modern home that sits on 34.85 acres. The house flooded in August, 2016, and has been gutted and treated. Located towards the end of Hoo Shoo Too, and also known as Capozzoli Landing Strip, this property has a unique 2,000 foot airplane landing strip (on the charts as 6LA2). The land and house backs up to Bayou Manchac. Property on the opposite side of the bayou (approximately 30 acres) can be purchased for $275,000 (see Muddy Creek listing in the LAND section of MLS). There are 27.05 acres located in flood zone AE, 7.80 acres in zone X.
