Newspaper Club launched at King Harold Academy
King Harold Academy's new subscription to the weekly FirstNews newspaper, funded by the Jack Petchey Foundation, saw the launch of a new Newspaper Club at the school.

The club, run by school librarian Giselle Morris, takes place in the Learning Resource Centre every Tuesday at 8am and encourages students to read and engage with national and international current affairs, prompting discussion and debate.

The club also provides an opportunity for students to share their opinions and views.

FirstNews is supported by the National Literacy Trust and is written specifically for young people.

It covers a range of news stories and fun activities that are appealing, interesting and develop literacy skills overall.
