History students visit National Archives
Thirty Year 11 historians at Debden Park High School attended a workshop at The National Archives at Kew.
They accessed and used unique government records of life in Whitechapel in the late 19th century as part of their studies.
History teacher Andrew Rumsey said: "It was brilliant learning for the students using census and government papers.
"It brought our 'Policing Whitechapel' environment study to life; especially for student Shannon who was given the responsibility of handling and analysing the original letter taunting the police from 'Jack the Ripper' complete with his 'signature' and bloodstains."
