The Mayor of Waltham Abbey has thanked everyone involved in Friday's Cavalcade of Light for helping to ensure the evening was "a spectacular start to the festive season".
Mayor councillor Mick Fitch along with Waltham Abbey Church Team Rector Peter Smith and Lea Valley Church Pastor Geoff Ace judged the array of floats and pedestrian entries for the event which started in the Cornmill car park and processed to the Town Hall for the switching on of the Christmas lights.
The cavalcade then made its way up Church Street and along a packed Sun Street to the Darby Drive car park.
The £1,000 prize for the best float entry was won by Abbey Floral Designs with the £500 prize for the best pedestrian entry going to Waltham Abbey Scouts.
Certificates and prizes will be presented on Wednesday.
Town Mayor councillor Mick Fitch said: "Despite the cold, it was a fantastic community event with what must have been thousands of people turning out to make the event a really spectacular start to the festive season.
"My thanks go to everyone who took the time to decorate floats and come up with imaginative themes whether they were part of an organisation that entered a float or took part in the parade on foot."
