Debden Park High School has held two autism awareness day.
The event was organised by the Learning Support team with the assistance of Psychology teacher Penny Ventura.
There was an assembly and presentation for all students educating them on the definition of the ‘Hidden Disability’, how it presents itself to others and how it can affect students who attend a busy school.
An ‘idioms’ competition, entitled 'Say what?' was aimed at helping students understand how confusing everyday life can be for those with the condition.
Students could also visit a stand featuring books and resources about autism with the displays hosted by students diagnosed as being on the autistic spectrum.
And there was a cake sale with students and staff providing the cakes which were sold for donations of between 20p and 50p. The sale raised £323.45 which will be spent on resources for students with autism at the school.
Students were also invited to wear an accessory coloured pink, purple or blue and make a donation towards the cause.
