Students meet Rainforest creatures
Year 7 students at King Harold Academy met some creepy crawlies and reptiles found in rainforests around the world when ZooLab paid them a visit.
The visit, organised by Head of Geography Samantha Barker-Smith, consisted of 45-minute workshops on how animals adapt to the rainforest.
The students got to meet, handle and learn about creatures such as the Madagascan Hissing Cockroach, Skeleton Tarantula, a millipede, a Bearded Dragon and a snake.
Whilst learning the correct way to handle the creatures, they learnt about their adaptions to the rainforest environment, diets and how easy or difficult it would be for them to survive in these tropical areas.
Ana-Maria Burduja said: “It was an amazing experience, a chance to meet and learn about some of the coolest animals ever!”
Brianna Warner McClean said: “I love ZooLab because you get to feel and see all of the animals, I hate spiders and I have never been that close to them before so I faced my fear!”
