Quiz team waits to hear if it will compete in national final

A talented quartet of children from Hereward Primary School, Loughton, came second in a National Quiz-Club Semi-Final in Braintree.

Competing against schools from Suffolk, Hertfordshire, Essex and London boroughs, the Hereward team - Karis-Joy (Year 6, captain), Rhys (Year 5), Rachel (Year 4) and Beniamin (Year 3) almost led from start to finish, just being pipped on the final question.

As one of the runners-ups, there is still a chance that the Hereward team will get to compete in the National Finals in Oxford next month.

Headteacher Matt Woolard said: "It was an incredible performance from the team.

"Their knowledge of a wide variety of subjects is phenomenal and their composure and teamwork throughout was equally impressive.

"We are so proud of them."
