Council opposes garden centre homes plan
An outline planning application for 19 homes at Crown Hill Garden Centre, Upshire, is being opposed by Waltham Abbey Town Council.
The scheme, submitted to Epping Forest District Council, proposes eight three-bedroom starter homes, four disabled design homes and seven three-bedroom open market houses.
The planning and licensing sub-committee says the proposed scheme is an overdevelopment of the site while councillors add that there are also highways issues regarding access to the site, and "dubious" access for refuse collection and emergency services.
The committee's objection also states: "It is not a sustainable location for this number of properties, especially for disabled, and there is a lack of open amenity space."
A final decision will be taken by the district council.
