Dress-up day adds to Poetry Week fun
Poetry Week at Hereward Primary School in Loughton saw the children dress as their favourite poetry characters and take part in workshops with a visiting poet.

Deputy Headteacher Renette Fourie said: "The school was a sea of colour with a range of fantastic characters being represented such as Macavity from the T.S.Eliot poem and in Nursery Rhymes like 'Hickory, Dickory, Dock'."

The children participated in a range of events during the week with some children arriving at school especially early to attend special 'Poetry Breakfasts'.

The exciting week of activities culminated with the visit today (Friday) of nationally renowned poet Paul Cookson.

He performed his poems, complete with musical accompaniment at times, to the whole school before conducting some creative writing workshops with  pupils in Years 3 to 6.
