Children at Hereward Primary School in Loughton celebrated National Poetry Day with a series of events over the course of a week.
The children were visited by the nationally-renowned poets 'Partners in Rhyme' who performed in the hall.
English co-ordinator Caroline Hilton also organised for some special 'Mad Hatter Tea Parties' to be held after school where the children got the chance to read their favourite poems as well as enjoy some cake and scones.
A special assembly was also held when the teaching staff could read their favourite poems to the children.
Headteacher Matt Woolard said: "Poetry Week is one of the highlights of the Hereward calendar. The visiting poets certainly set the scene for the week and the many events held promoted a real love of poetry and reading.
"It was a great occasion."
