Students prepare for MP's debating competition
Students from Debden Park High School will be among the eight school teams taking part in the Epping Forest Schools Parliamentary Debating Competition organised by Epping Forest MP Eleanor Laing.
The teams, each comprising two students, will debate the Motion: “This House believes that Britain’s influence in the world will be greater once it leaves the European Union”.
The Debden Park team and the teams from West Hatch High School, Epping St John's School and Roding Valley High School will be speaking for the Motion while the Chigwell School, King Harold Academy, Braeside School and Davenant Foundation School teams will speak against the Motion.
Representing Debden Park High School will be Year 12 students Cameron Currie and Christie-Jane Ioannou.
Cameron said: "We're pretty excited, I can't wait to debate this exciting topic that I feel very passionate towards."
Christie-Jane said: "I'm also really looking forward to it, it should be a really interesting debate."
The competition takes place at Roding Valley High School, Loughton, on Friday, November 18.
Epping Forest MP Eleanor Laing said: "I am very much looking forward to the evening which always sees a high standard of debate from the participating students.
"It is certainly the hot topic in UK politics at the moment and it will be interesting to see the arguments which are put forward by the teams this year."
