March is the month to start planning your Active School Week (ASW) programme. Read the ASW section of this newsletter below to find out about the support that is available to schools from sports organisations and leisure centres. And definitely check out the articles that have been submitted by schools - they are full of interesting and novel ways to promote physical activity.

IPPEA Conference FOOTAGE
The 13th annual Irish Primary Physical Education Association (IPPEA) Conference 2016, which took place 2 weeks ago, was a SELL OUT event with over 100 teachers in attendance from all around Ireland. Be Active ASAP Congratulations to all the schools in Donegal, Kildare, Louth, Meath, Monaghan, Offaly and South Dublin that participated in teacher training in February. One Million Step Challenge (Wicklow Sports Partnership

SAILING Open days - Sailing Ireland
Sailing clubs, with the support of Local Sports partnerships, will open their doors for student TRY SAILINGdays during April. No boat, no experience necessary. Schools are asked to raise awareness about this initiative within their school community and as part of their planning for Active School Week (2016).
