Welcome to another local newsletter,
Eudunda is a wonderful place to live, work and play or to visit. We try to give you some of the local news here. There is still so much more news being missed out. You might have a story to tell, seen something worth sharing, want to tell everyone about your organisation or business.
This newsletter could do that for you. Peter Herriman - Editor.
The Eudunda and District Probus Club went on a bus trip in April to explore the Kapunda History Trail and Museum. With Andy Riemekasten driving our bus and Hedley Scholz expertly guided us through Kapunda’s back streets and telling everyone about the beautiful buildings and properties and thier history it was a very informative trip. On the trip we were blessed to have Fay Grosser’s Daughter Linda Wundke and her children Joshua, Rebekah and Stephanie from Horsham, Victoria along with us, as it was school holidays.
Added to the trip was to be able to stretch our legs and investigate the recently developed Kapunda Copper Mine precinct, which is very well done. Having young and energetic kids along was fantastic , especially when it came to the mine, as they were able to show us how the ‘Whim’ and various other working parts actually worked.
Lunch at the Sir John Franklin Hotel allowed us to extend the day, so we were ready to explore the Kapunda Museum. What a wonderful collection this is. Museum Volunteer Guide Suzanne shared the wonderful history of music, playing on various antique gramophones. We could have spent the whole day just exploring there. Congratulations to thier volunteers and committee. A big thank you to Andy and Hedley for a great day out.

Eudunda’s local SA Ambulance Service (SAAS) Volunteers (may we call them our wonderful Ambos?) celebrated National Volunteer Week in great style on the 18th May 2021 at Raj’s ‘Good Karma Cafe’ here in Eudunda. Their theme was ‘Bollywood’ and a good time was had with lots of laughter and great food.
We thank every one of them for thier service to the community
A reminder that the Ambos are needing more local volunteers to keep this amazing and important service to the community going.
Eudunda Community Op Shop – Now Sell Electrical Items, Plants and Pumpkins.
The electrical items have been tested and tagged by Goyder Electrical so they are in working and safe order, and have been flying off the shelf as quick as our volunteers can display them. The Plants and Pumpkins have been selling well too. Everyone is very happy!
The bag of Butternut Pumpkins comes from the Riverland and they currently sell for $7.00 per bag. The pumpkins come in small, medium & large, roughly 6kg per bag, and will last for 6-8 months (if stored properly). Great for some winter pumpkin soup.
Last week a couple touring from Queensland called in to the Op Shop, just looking for a replacement drinking glass. It was great to meet them. Others have come in to the shop looking for cutlery, and crockery.
The Op Shop is open from Wednesday to Saturday, 10am to 2pm.
National Volunteer Week is the annual celebration to acknowledge the generous contribution of our nation’s volunteers.
The Eudunda Community, Business and Tourism Committee (ECBAT) would like to on behalf of our community say: ‘Thank You’ to all volunteers for the vital role you play each and every day, and for making our communities stronger, especially during times of need, crisis or isolation.
We, the ECBAT Committee do understand your challenges, after all, we are volunteers too! If anyone has any suggestions on how we might be able to help the local volunteers please contact us
The Eudunda Show Committee have been working away quietly already preparing for the 2021 Eudunda Show. If you are unsure what is involved, why not give our Show Secretary, Mel, a ring and talk with her about what would be involved.
