STOP PRESS: Election Results for Grey hanging in the balance

Our region is in the Southern end of the massive Federal Electorate of Grey. it has been considered a safe Liberal seat in recent years, served well by Rowan Ramsey since the 2007 election.

In what is a complete surprise Andrea Broadfoot of the Nick Xenophon Team polled so well that the the Australian Electoral Commission (AEC) started the recount on Sunday using NXT's Andrea Broadfoot instead of Labor in the two-candidate preferred counting.

At the time of publishing a result had not been released and many not be known for some days.

Swann Insurance 24 Hour this weekend
9th-10th July 2016

This year - even though the start is at Kapunda, the track is very much in our own area, so get involved, come and barrack for your riders. Quite a few local riders are entered again (see the list on website).

Come and see what it is all about – Kapunda is “under cover”, Buy a programme and read lots of extra info and find out where there are 3 spectator areas for you to go to as well.
Please consider buying your food and drinks at Main Control, as the 24 Hour is a major fundraiser for local groups, and you will also find some great merchandise there too.
Please follow directions, keep off private property, take your rubbish with you, and most of all Drive Safely!!!
GOOD LUCK TO ALL RIDERS!

Flooding after significant rains

With rainfalls of 15mm to 50mm in the region many of the creeks and the River Light bulged with water flows. On Facebook was mention of at least one instance of a lucky escape after a rescue on the Peter's Hill Road ford when a vehicle broke down while trying to cross the water and was pulled out by a tow truck. Once again the warning is to not enter flood water, it is dangerous.

Thanks to local photographer David Gibb for the photo of
"The River Light in flood at Tranma road Ford" and also for finding the story of the vehicle breaking down.

You can see more flood photos at the Facebook group David runs "Mid North South Australia Landscape, Wildlife & Heritage" (You need to be logged in to facebook to see many beautiful photos, and if you have some you can contribute too - just joing the group.
