Good News for Historic Burra Paxton Cottages with $1.2M Facelift.

Burra’s heritage listed Paxton Square Cottages built in 1849 has always been a challenge for the Regional Council of Goyder and the wider community to manage. It has great historic significance, which should be preserved, but funding such a project has been difficult for many years.

The cottages are set to be upgraded and modernised with support from a $200,000 State Government Regional Development Fund grant.

The Regional Council of Goyder  is hoping the $1.2 million project will underpin the rebranding of the Paxton Square Cottages as a boutique and contemporary accommodation complex integrated into a unique historic setting

Regional Council of Goyder Mayor, Peter Mattey said “Thanks to the Regional Development Fund, we will be able to create a facility in Burra unlike any other, with capacity to accommodate boutique events or groups.”

“The upgrade of the Paxton Square Cottages will support Burra’s initiative to become the ‘home of the boutique festival’, which will bring a range of festival experiences to the town and the wider Goyder community.

Editorial Comment:
The Eudunda region through the Eudunda Community Business & Tourism Committee know from experience how hard it is to preserve significant local heritage, especially with their struggle to keep the Eudunda Railway Station in good enough condition until ownership and access can be sorted out. That has partly been solved recently due to the great work of Terry Jessen.
It is great news for Paxton Square Cottages, and should surely enthuse our own local efforts. The more attractions that the region can develop, the more the whole region will benefit.

Gustav Entrance EUDUNDA Lettering
looks great!

The Eudunda Community, Business and Tourism Committee (ECBAT) are very pleased with the new "EUDUNDA" lettering which is in front of the Gustav & his Dog silhouettes at the three entrances to the township.

At night when the spotlights are working they light up the lettering brilliantly and it really adds to the display and strongly identifies Eudunda as the place you are entering.

Unfortunately the lettering during the day is not as visible as would be liked, and long time stalwart of the town Greg Post has painted the Northern entrance to see if it improves the view. ECBAT hope to try a few other options to see if they work better too.

What do you think? - It would be preferable to actually go have a look. Unfortunately the photo is doing a good job up close - but we want you to get the vision as you drive past, which is the most typical way visitors to the town will see it.

PS - This is the first attempt at doing an online survey with this system - so if it doesn't work for you - could you please email me with your feedback (the Poll) and any thing that might help me to know what is going wrong with the survey - survey@eudunda.com   - THANK YOU!

Had You Noticed the NEW Paint Job on the EUDUNDA letters (Point Pass Entrance Only)
BEFORE this survey?

Hot Days Forecast for Christmas
Swimming Pool an Attractive Destination.

With the 7 day forecast of being 35 today everyone got a chance to enjoy the Eudunda Swimming Pool including a Christmas Party for the Eudunda Play Group, who had a ball in the water.

A few cooler days of 26 & 27 will spoil things as the pool will stay closed, but after that, it gets HOT, VERY HOT! with 32 on Thursday, 36 Friday, & Saturday, (according to Weatherzone)

Christmas Day will be a typical "Australian Christmas Day - A HOT 38!
Sorry! Unfortunately Christmas Day is the only day that the pool is closed during the season even if over 28 degrees. Luck would have it that way.
We wish Steve & Lee a great day off - they deserve it!

Don't Let Australian Tax Office Grab Your Unclaimed Super

Heard an article on the Television about the Australian Tax Office (ATO) is getting ready to grab another round of "Unclaimed Super" at the end of the year. So very little time left to chase this up.

There are plenty of web pages claiming to help you to recover your unclaimed super, with one safe place to start - the ATO itself.
https://www.ato.gov.au/forms/searching-for-lost-super/

In an effort to check that the story was correct and current, one would have thought there would be many sites referring to this situation. Not so! Most are based around reports from 2012 (when the Super Grab law was passed) through to 2014.
The best one - current at August 2016 that is, can be found here: It explains what is happening.
