Who is Running the Butcher Shop Opening at Eudunda Wed 3rd May

By Peter Herriman:
You may well ask how Miguel from Channel Ten's "The Living Room" gets into our newsletter. It all began back in 2014 when he came to the butcher shop of Thornby Fine Meats at Tanunda for some Beef Brisket to make a special pie at Jacobs Creek Visitor Centre for a segment on the show.

Proprietors of the butcher shop, John and Annie Hill were surprised to have a film crew there, with Miguel, everyone had heaps of fun together, and indeed their segment was aired on national television as part of the larger story. This gives you an idea of the quality and reputation of Thornby Fine Meats.

Now we zoom to the present day. An email from Kathy and Chas Handke, retired owners of Handke Bros Butchers, Eudunda,
"We have finally managed to get someone to take on the Butcher Shop. It is hoped the community will support  the new shop and we thank John & Annie for giving it a go and wish them all the best.

The Business will be run by John and Annie Hill of Thornby Meats, Tanunda.  It will be opening on the 3rd May and the Trading Days are Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

Annie explained,
"There will be a three month trial period to see what demand is within the community.

"We will initially be open from 10am to 4:30pm as we have to travel as well. I have managed to arrange EFTPOS facilities and you are still welcome to pay cash".

"If people require something in particular or wish to place an order  they can ring  or SMS a message to Annie on 0410 608 064. (please note the old shop phone number is no longer available).

Editor: It should be remarked that Chas & Kathy are remarkable in their corporate responsibility to the community, having tirelessly sought out someone to take on the butcher shop, so the region would not loose out. They have gone way beyond what any other business might have done, BRAVO!
Let;s hope that the community now support John & Annie in this new venture.

Eudunda - Council Unanimous Decision for
30 Degree Parking

By Peter Herriman:
A number of members of the Eudunda Community, Business & Tourism (ECBaT), attended the Regional council of Goyder regular council meeting on the 18th April 2017. They were particularly interested in the discussion Councillors were to have and any decision made about the Bruce Street Parking at Eudunda.

A motion was put that "That Council does whatever it can to mitigate the risk, whilst retaining some form of angle parking." and then amended to
"That Council progress a compliant design accommodating 30o angle parking on the western side of Bruce Street, and incorporating a pedestrian crossing south of Lloyd Street intersection"
This motion was voted upon and carried.

Refer to REGIONAL COUNCIL OF GOYDER - Council Minutes–18-04-17
See section 10.3 Bruce Street Parking, Eudunda.

Eudunda Observers noted that it was a Unanimous Decision.

This is a great decision made by Councillors, not an easy one, the community gets that, as it has been a difficult path for Councillors to come to this decision. It is a decision that will help the community to continue to use the street in a familiar way, with less disruption.
The 30 degree parking is already being used in front of the Doctor's Surgery without any complaints or difficulty. It does remain to be seen what plans are prepared by the Council's draftsman.

5km of Bras to Raise Funds For Breast Cancer

A note from Janice Tschirn of Robertstown.
"I don’t know if you are aware but I am raising funds for Breast Cancer. I would like to raise $5000.00 and in the process we are making a 5km line of Bra’s from our Corner of Brady Road to the cross roads at Stock Route/Neindorf roads. Can you help support this for me please. We will be hanging the first Bra’s at 3pm on 6/05/17.

"When we hang our bra’s I am asking all interested parties to be there at the start with their bottles of champas to kick it off."
