Local Fire Danger Already Started Mid October

Sutherlands area residents Kirsty Dudley & Simon Moore had a shock on 19th October when they discovered a smoldering fire on the roadside near their property. They believe it was started by some careless 'ASS' throwing out a cigarette butt.
Fortunately they were able to put the fire out with rakes & shovels, but not before it destroyed about 15 meters of roadside and was heading into the neighbours property. Their message:-
REMEMBER TO BUTT OUT YOUR BUTTS PEOPLE AND USE YOUR ASHTRAY

To reinforce the possibility of fires, on the 27th October, mid afternoon, CFS Units were called to two separate fires in our region. A Grass Fire in the area of Schwert Road and Sutherlands Road Bower and another at Bethel road Kapunda.

Eudunda Area School success at Royal Adelaide Show

Students from the Eudunda Area School did very well at the Royal Adelaide Show 2016.
Results were very pleasing for the 'first timers'. Well done to all and their Ag Teacher Ann Rowett.
Abbie Obrien - 3rd for the Angora Goat Paraders' Competition
Eudunda Area School 1 - 3rd for Kid Production Class.
Eudunda Area School 1 - 3rd for Kid Wether, under 14 months.
Schools Cereal Hay - 2nd Place.

Locals do well at Royal Adelaide Show

A quick search online found some results for local exhibitors at the Royal.
Eudunda Area School as reported above.
Eudunda Show Young Farmer Challenge Team - new State Champions.
Beef Cattle - Santa Gertrudis: Walmona Pastoral Pty Ltd
- the Doering Family performed well with 3 x 1st places, 1 x 2nd, 4 x 3rd and 2 x 4th places under what looks like (from the results) very stiff competition. Their younger entries performed well, so there is much to look forward to in coming years.
Wood Chopping South Australian Standing Block Handicap - Michael Dreckow placed 6th
Wood Chopping Junior Invitation Round Robin - Josh Dreckow placed 7th .
Does anyone know of other successes - please let us know?
