Vancouver SOUP Crowdfunding dinner Wednesday, November 16

If you need a little sunshine, a little restoring of faith in humanity, come to our community crowdfunding dinner & social supporting small initiatives that are making the city a better place. We're at 566 Powell St., doors at 6:00 and pitches start at 7:00 pm.

$10 gets you soup, bread, salad and a vote for one of 4 projects that will pitch, the winner of which gets the whole pot of cash at the end of the night!

Once again, we'll enjoy a tummy warming meal from Rebel Soup and be inspired by the problem-solving ideas of our pitchers.

Meet this week's pitchers - one spot left!
We just had one space to pitch open up - YOU can share your idea with us this Wednesday, Nov. 16.  Just email answers to 3 quick questions:

1. What is your project?
2. How does it build community in Vancouver?
3. How will you use Vancouver SOUP funds if you win?

RouteSpeak is a citizen led transit improvement network which will develop proposals for TransLink to address and provide accountability back to the community. The goal is to make transit more accessible, affordable and reliable and to build a civic structure which will increase the strength of our communities through engagement and leadership development.

To help raise the voice of local residents in transit planning, the Metro Vancouver Alliance piloted a project in one neighborhood, working with organizations in South Vancouver. In the spring of 2017 the RouteSpeak project will be expanded across the City of Vancouver.

2017 Crowdfunding Workshops for Social Innovation

The Art Party is planning crowdfunding workshops in 2017. Social innovation startups have challenges raising funds, but crowdfunding has successful track records for artistic, creative and community-oriented social enterprise projects. We have qualified crowdfunding trainers and volunteers available and we’re looking for creative ways to pay them honorariums, including raising funds from VancouverSOUP crowdfunding.
First Thursdays Vancouver

On the first Thursday of every month, explore art galleries and cultural attractions in Vancouver. Meet artists, creatives, and musicians. Get to know your community and make new connections.
Celebrating a year of Vancouver SOUPs
On September 22, we celebrated one year of Vancouver SOUP crowdfunding dinners. Over five events you raised a total of $3,671 for a wide diversity of community-building projects. Above and beyond the cash, though, you came together as a community and supported people with ideas for positive change. Vancouver - you ROCK!!!

You'll be happy to know that if you enjoyed the food at our events, chef Amanda's soup is now available to be ordered from her new business Rebel Soup - less waste, more soup!

Also on September 22 you cheered on Afeatherway, AlunaThe future Is You and Me, and voted the Writers' Exchange the winner (Sarah pictured above, right, pitching to win). As a special treat we enjoyed cupcakes from Sweet Nom bakery (sweets and Vancouver SOUP volunteers pictured above left). Happy Birthday to Vancouver SOUP!

We are so grateful for this welcoming community. Many thanks to all of you who join us for evenings of food and fun. Thank you to our volunteers who come back time and again and thank you to CCEC Credit Union for your continued support. We're excited for another year of Vancouver SOUP.
Vancouver SOUP is supported by CCEC Credit Union - making it possible for all of your donations to go directly to the winner of SOUP.
