President's Address

Hey Ladles and Jellyspoons,
We’re nearly there, our deserved Midsem break approaches! Just a heads up Tuesday the 26th is the first day back! Anywho, a lot has happened on the Science front since my last address; we’ve attained 6 new Fresher representatives and had a ‘plethora’ of events.
HyperScience happened a fortnight ago, which was an absolute ripper! Many blasted off early, in the search for Mars but come the end of the evening, their bodies were celestial vessels, spiritually drifting amongst the stars. At least that’s how I felt about it!
Not long after we had our Dance Workshop run in collaboration with Dance UWA!  We don’t know how dancing correlates with Science, but there is always something magical about watching Science students ‘Salsa’! All in all it was fun night and definitely relieved some of the Midsem Exam blues!
Now to PROSH! For those of you who don’t know, PROSH is a satirical newspaper written by students that raises money for a range of different charities every year. Generally every club has a theme they come dressed as, and this year ours was ‘Make Prosh Great Again’. Winthrop tower was conveniently converted into ‘Trump Tower’ further bolstering our theme and costumes and so we paraded and sold the paper in front of the university.  See picture below!
Thank you to everyone who participated, we had a glorious time selling the papers! You can still make donations here!

Education

Study Nights begin 5-7pm, this Thursday upstairs in the Monadelphous building (MILC). Run in partnership with Maths Union, UPS, CHeMnBiO and UEC, these events present a unique opportunity, especially for freshers, to gain an insight into how exams at UWA are conducted, advice for writing exams and what your course is like down the track!

Volunteering

We have started our volunteering for the year with sessions at Ronald McDonald House Nedlands baking for sick children at PMH. We have another 2 coming up in May on Friday 6th and 20th which always prove to be great fun. Beyond that we are working with Scitech and the Outdoor club on creating new opportunities Fri SU members to get active and get involved in the Perth community.
