Hi Ing,

Welcome to our many new subscribers - many of who we met at the Seniors Expo. Our display showcased Days for Girls and the great work that you all do and there were many people volunteering to help and we look forward to seeing you at our sewing days.

June Sewing Day

Our last sewing day was huge success. Again we had more than 25 volunteers on the day cutting, tracing as well as sewing but the highlight was when many pitched in and actually packed 100 kits. As always, a great turn out by the Rotary e-Club of NextGen and the Rotary Club of Ashmore. Great job by everyone.

Kit Distribution

Niki Pearce - who has previously taken 50 kits to Honiara, is currently delivering 50 kits to Vanuatu and we are about to send another 30 kits to our contact in Siem Reap, Cambodia.

Our volunteers Doug & Annette Robbins will be taking 100 kits to Townsville after the next sewing day to be sent to Papua New Guinea on YHAM's ship. We hope to be packing these at the next sewing day.

Remember, if you would like kits to go somewhere you have a contact in, we would love to be able to meet these needs. Just let me know.  The requests for kits for distribution is open to everyone.

Where we need help

Our current shortage is for donations of Girls size 8 - 10 knickers so if you are looking for an idea of some way to help, then we would really appreciate  these donations.

Our sewing list is for liners. Each kit takes 8 liners and our recent shipment has depleted these so if you have an overlocker, then there is a job that we would love some help with. We need at least 600 liners to complete the kits and have flannelette available.

Check your diaries

Don't forget that we have a sewing and packing day coming up on Saturday 13 August. This will once again be held at the Trinity Lutheran College at Ashmore. The entry for this is via the Cotlew Street car park entrance that is opposite Freda Street. Setup will start from 8.30 am and any help would be appreciated so that we can be underway by 9.00 am aiming to finish at 1.00 pm.

Hopefully we will be able to get some more kits completed. Seeing the kits assembled is such a rewarding experience because it sees every little contribution that has been made come through to the final product.

Love to have you along if at all possible.
