Hi Ing,

I am so sorry that you have not had a newsletter for a while but we have been run off our feet with our business over the last few months.

But so much has happened even so!

Firstly, what a great turnout we had for our last sewing day back in December - by far our biggest which was fantastic and we also got to display our new die cut machine which has just proven to be one smart buy!

We have also managed to send out even more kits with another 100 kits going to Siem Reap. This means that we have now sent kits to Cambodia, Vanuatu, Papua & New Guinea and Timor Leste.

It was great to get the following message from Carol who has taken the kits to Siem Reap:

"Shortly I will hold a workshop at Lotus House addressing feminine hygiene and menstruation Days for Girls Gold Coast QLD Team have supplied kits to women and girls of Opheakspea village to be distributed on this day. They are a global organisation that is passionate about bringing dignity to all females living in 3rd world countries.

Here's a few points of interest:

* Menstruation is heavily stigmatised in most 3rd world countries.
* Many women and girls do not have access to feminine hygiene products to use when menstruating and also lack access to hygiene facilities – like private bathrooms
* Girls are held back from attending school due to the embarrassment of going through their monthly cycle without protection..

With the help from Days for Girls we hope to get the message across that they should not be embarrassed or ashamed by something as natural as getting a period every month.

We hope that the girls and women attending this workshop and receiving these kits will be given dignity and comfort, and the okay to say " I'm a female, and I'm proud of it ".....

Isn't that great feedback. Thank you Carol.

Stay tuned also for some great news on an exciting fundraiser that is being organised through Rotary.

We have had hundreds of little knitted chickens created in time for Easter that will raise some much needed funds for our team on an ongoing basis but also that will be used towards the project that we have to set up an enterprise overseas that will allow a community to make these on an ongoing basis. Thank you so much to Ashmore Rotary for this assistance. More about this in the next newsletter but if you are in a position to knit a few chicks, please let me know.

it's time for another sewing day and I hope that you can make it along on Saturday 11th February. As with all sewing days, we will be running from 9.00 am to 12.30 pm at Trinity Lutheran College, Cotlew Street, Ashmore. Not all of you are on Facebook but hopefully you have saved the date.

Thanks everyone for your continued support.

Until next time
