July 2017 | Freedom

The month of July is about celebrating being an American and living in a nation built on the belief that everyone deserve basic rights and freedoms granted to them: life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Here at ATG, we believe that there should be great emphasis and importance placed on the freedom of artistic expression, speech and choice. It is important to recognize the diversity in our country that makes this nation so special and unique. We stand behind the belief that we can only flourish as a people if we come together in understanding.
Our #beCAUSE campaign is something you can do year round, and it's important that everyone is aware that they can make a difference within their own community. Make sure to look for our August newsletter next month for upcoming updates and events!

journey from the fall affd16TH ANNUAL ASIAN FILM FESTIVAL OF DALLAS
Coffee Mate
We are honored to team up with Community Partner Asian Film Festival of Dallas to co-present the prolific feature film Coffee Mate directed by Lee Hyun-ha this Wednesday, July 19, 2017 from 8:15pm -10:11pm at the Angelika Film Center in Dallas. This film explores two individuals who meet in a café, where this location soon becomes a haven and an escape for them both, a time and place apart from their hectic lives.  In this suspended reality, the two are able to discover their selves, their dreams and desires. Read here for the festival’s complete program and to purchase tickets.
Heritage Camps for Adoptive Families’ newest camp, Southeast Asian/Pacific Islander Heritage Camp (SEAPI), took place this past weekend at the YMCA of the Rockies in Estes Park, Colorado. ATG sent 3 ambassadors to teach a “Chopped Kitchen” style cooking workshop for middle school and high school campers, and they co-hosted a joint workshop with the FIPI Camp to teach fresh fruit recipes for elementary school campers. It was great to see familiar and new faces! We had a full schedule of prepping and teaching 8 classes in 2 days, but the energy and enthusiasm of the campers kept us pumped. Thank you to HCAF for inviting us to be a part of this ever growing family!
